SUMMIT Day 4: (OFF-SITE) Learning Journey for DISRUPT 5.0 Book REVEAL GROUP PHOTO then Board the Shuttle
Wednesday October 30, 2024 8:30am - 4:00pm AEDT
Learning Journey:
"A desk is a dangerous place to view the world."
-- John le Carré

John le Carré is like the James Bond of writing, but way more sophisticated and morally grey. His spy novels are off the charts, and they even made some killer movies and shows out of them. So, in the world of IT, the big problem is that tech people and business folks aren't on the same page. They're not facing the real challenges together and figuring out how to use tech to solve 'em. It's like what Steven Spielberg said back in '95 when he got that AFI award - making something truly great means having a deep personal connection or experience with it. That's what helps create awesome stuff like killer products, innovative software, slick designs, and solving tricky business and customer problems.

Remember that scene in the movie where the manager says, "I'm gonna go check out this situation for myself?" Yeah, that's the move. Instead of just conference calls from the US, he jets off to Japan to get the lowdown in person. He sits down with the Japanese crew, gets to know them, and really digs into how things work over there. It's all about making those real connections and getting that insider info to improve things.
